Who Is the Lord Jesus Christ?

Ans: The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, co–equal and co–eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jn. 1:1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Col. 2:9. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 1 Tim. 3:16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Titus 2:13. Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. See also: Isa. 7:14; Jn. 1:14, 18; 14:6–11; Phil. 2:5–11; Titus 2:13; Heb. 1:8. Fire Fire!

Fire! Fire! by J. C. Ryle When a house is on fire, what ought to be done first? We ought to give the alarm and wake the inhabitants. This is true love to our neighbor. this is true love. Reader, I love your soul, and want it to be saved. I am therefore going to tell you something about hell. There is such a place as hell. Let no one deceive you with vain words. What men do not like, they try hard not to believe. When the Lord Jesus Christ comes to judge the world, he will punish all who are not his disciples with a fearful punishment. All who are found impenitent and unbelieving; all who have clung to sin, stuck to the world, and set their affections on things below; all who are without Chri

The Vital Question

The Vital Question Do you have assurance that if you die today, you will go to heaven? This is life's most vital and most important question. Where will you spend eternity? In Heaven or Hell? You have no guarantee of tomorrow. You might die tonight! Statistics state that 151,600 people die every day. You might be next! Every day, millions of people make plans for the future yet they neglect their souls. They make plans for their college education; buying and selling and for retirement yet they neglect the most important thing, that is their soul. Life is very short. The Psalmist says: "The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their bo

A Bad Record and a Bad Heart

A Bad Record and a Bad Heart By Albert N. Martin Problems, Problems, Problems! Often it seems that life in this world is nothing but one problem after another. We have different kinds of problems—family problems, money problems, health problems, job problems—but we all have problems. And we all try to solve these problems. We see a counselor about our family problems; we look for another job if we are in financial trouble; we go to the doctor about our health; we do everything we can to improve our condition. There is one problem, however, which is far greater than any other. And failing to solve it is more tragic than sickness or poverty or hardship. Yet most of mankind has never done anyth

Eternity! By J.C. Ryle I offer to every one who reads this volume some food for thought, and material for self-examination. (1) First of all, how are you using your time? Life is short and very uncertain. You never know what a day may bring forth. Business and pleasure, making money, and spending money, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage—all, all will soon be over and done with forever. And you, what are you doing for your immortal soul? Are you wasting time, or using it wisely? Are you preparing to meet God? (2) Secondly, where will you be in eternity? It is coming, coming, coming very fast upon us. You are going, going, going very fast into it. But where will you be—on th

Freedom "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36). The true freedom I speak of is spiritual freedom, freedom of soul. It is the freedom which Christ bestows, without money and without price, on all true Christians. Those whom the Son makes free, are free indeed: "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." (2 Corinthians 3:17.) Let men talk what they please of the comparative freedom of monarchies and republics; let them struggle, if they will, for universal liberty, fraternity, and equality: we never know the highest style of liberty — until we are enrolled citizens of the kingdom of God. We are ignorant of the best kind of freedom — if we are not C
