What Does the Bible Teach About Speaking In Tongues?

What happened at Pentecost is simple and profound. The Spirit filled Christians at Pentecost witnessed for Christ in sixteen different languages. There were no “spiritual” languages or “heavenly” utterances that could not be comprehended by all present. The languages used were normal, human languages. There was no babble of sound unfamiliar to any human mind.
The Bible nowhere says that speaking in tongues is the Biblical evidence or the initial evidence of having received the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
